Apparently Amazon prime instant video will be launching in Canada soon. If and when this happens will COGECO enable the Amazon Prime instant video app on the TIVO boxes like all TIVO units have in the US? http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/amazon-prime-video-canada-1.3874326

[INTERNET] Cogeco IMAP servers down

In past 1/2 hr or so, Cogeco servers seem to be down. Using Windows Live Mail, got an error, so went to Webmail. It says "The mail service is not available. Please try again later." We are out of country, but if webmail isn't working this appears to be a server problem

[INTERNET] Cogeco ipv6 works perfectly, except...

As a new Cogeco customer I was pleasantly surprised to see that Cogeco ipv6 works very very well -- with no hassles, I was able to get a native ipv6 address and assign LAN addresses via DHCPv6 IA-PD. test-ipv6.com gives my connection a score of 10/10: IPv4: Good, AS7992 - COGECOWAVE - Cogeco Cable,CAIPv6: Good, AS7992 - COGECOWAVE - Cogeco Cable,CA Except for one issue -- the authoritative DNS servers for Cogeco do not respond to requests for PTR records for ipv6 addresses, and worse they don't fail-fast but force the client to time out: dig -x 2001:1970:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx...;; Got answer:;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 25192... While this is not normally a problem, it causes delays in some cases where the remote server is doing a reverse DNS lookup, which becomes very slow because the PTR lookup. On one remote server I manage, for example, it takes about 15s to login via sshd or imapd, and this is in the logs of the nameserver: Mar 22 17:02:01 x named[23755]: error (unexpected RCODE REFUSED) resolving '[elided].ip6.arpa/PTR/IN': 2001:1970:0:18:14::1#53Mar 22 17:02:01 x named[23755]: error (connection refused) resolving '[elided].ip6.arpa/PTR/IN': 24.226.0.58#53Mar 22 17:02:01 x named[23755]: error (unexpected RCODE REFUSED) resolving '[elided].ip6.arpa/PTR/IN': 24.226.14.60#53 Cogeco support, once I was able to explain the issue, basically said they don't support ipv6 so screw off. Since ipv6 is working so well otherwise, this little issue seems a pity. Any Cogeco engineers lurking out there that could help with this?? :-)

[INTERNET] The best movie I ever made

The best move i ever made was leaving Cogeco. I have been with Teksaavy now for a few months and i can't be happier. I pay for a decent internet service, I get good quality technical support, great speeds (no throttling) and I don't have a download cap. Maybe Cogeco should look at getting rid of their UBB and bring down the prices and cogeco might find that customers are happy to return to the source.

New 1Gbps and 360Mbps expanding??

I just got off the phone with Cogeco inquiring about the new 1Gbps and 360Mbps packages expanding to Windsor (It is just in Burlington and Oakville for now) and the agent told me it will come to Windsor in a couple of months.. should I take this with a grain of salt, or is it really coming so soon? Other questions about this service.. What transport type will this be using? GPON, DOCSIS3.1 or something else? Can you get a "loyalty" discount on these plans? (A contract.. for lower rates) What modem is used with these plans?

[TV] Service Interrupted Messages on various channels in Peterborough

Hello, I posted this issue on the Direct forum and it does not look like anyone is looking at my post. Here is hoping someone can help me out: For over a week, I am getting constant "service interruption" messages on various channels with my Cogeco HD service in Peterborough area (Monaghan Road and Homewood Ave). This is interesting in that there was someone in a white (non Cogeco) van that was up on the pole across my home fixing some hardware (attached some big black coiled cylinder on the line). I am not sure if they buggered up my cable or if it is just a coincidence. Has there been some issues in the area as last Friday all of my channels were impacted. Thanks

[TV] Two identical basic hd receivers, same channels,yet................

Hi I'm grandfathered in to the basic h/d select package ,same basic receiver on my both tv's,same channels. I noticed just recently that the upstairs receiver now receives most(not all) of basic lower digital channels (lets say channel 3-50 ) in hd.Blue light is on. Yet the same channels on the downstairs receiver are still in low def(just digital signal),blue light off. Mind you the upper channels(700s) on both receivers are in hd. Why the discrepancy ??

I'm wondering if someone can tell me if my upstream and downstream signal numbers look OK. I'm thinking the upstream signal strength might be a bit high on channel 3? It's a Hitron CDA RES modem and there is a 3db attenuator between the cable and modem.

Was looking at TV packages from Cogeco and noticed that 4K is coming soon https://www.cogeco.ca/en/check-availability?cb=/en/tv/pvr-tivo-4k Although address doesn't qualify so I can't check. What's the hardware gonna be like? Also this means that Telus, Videotron, Cogeco, Rogers and Bell all have 4K TV service, leaving only Shaw without it. Nice to see more companies jumping into 4K tbh.

[INTERNET] SamKnows Monitoring/Bandwidth Usage Stopped

I recently signed up for the SamKnows internet speed monitoring that the CRTC is conducting. Checking over the last couple of days my speed of 30 down 10 up has been pretty consistent. But since I put the monitor (a TP Link 3600 router) in (June 15th at 8pm) I haven't gotten any updates on my bandwidth usage on the MyCogeco site since Wednesday. Now someone has pointed out in another forum that any bandwidth used by the SamKnows hardware Cogeco doesn't count as part of my usage (https://www.measuringbroadbandcanada.com/faq) . Just wondering if anyone else signed up and is having the same problem. Just for anyone wondering here's a couple of screenshot and some info: https://www.measuringbroadbandcanada.com/

[TV] Keep Losing TV Connection

I'm watching TV, then all of sudden, the picture freezes for a couple of seconds, then the screen goes black. It stays that way for anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute. It's happening on both TV's, there is a different model of cable box on the TV's, and both go out at the same time. It can happen a couple of minutes apart. It's very frustrating trying to watch a program with all these interruptions. Channels where it's happening most often are networks that transmits to a satellite, Also, today, internet has gone done several times, but only for short periods. With my telephone account on Cogeco, when the internet goes down, so does my phone.

Hey guys. Has anyone else had an issue where every single recorded program was just suddenly wiped? I didn't go in and manually delete anything, nor was the drive at 100%. Last I checked it was around the 80% range. So, what gives? I just lost all of my DVR content. Is this an error is are all of my shows actually gone?

Ground Loop Issue

Hi, I posted this in another Cogeco forum also Cogeco just hooked up my Tivo and as soon as they connected the receiver I get a loud buzz (ground loop) from my 60,000.00 system. This is the first time I have had Cogeco TV and have not had ground loop problems with any other equipment. They tried two boxes and both create the hum, any idea if it is my responsibility to fix it or Cogeco's? I would like to get Cogeco as it is my only way to get 4k and nobody I have talked to at Cogeco (6 people now) even know what a ground loop is.

Cogeco TiVo T6 Ethernet setup

So I got the new TiVo service installed the other day, they obviously set it up with a T6 and 2 mini's. When they set it up they used MoCa to configure the network for the devices using the Cisco Router/Modem. To keep things simple I let the tech finish and asked if it was possible to move it over to Ethernet - it said it was simple and just unplug the Coax and install Ethernet - I went to do this as a test using the T6 and while the box got internet it could not obtain a tv signal. So the question is this - can the T6 support being setup using Ethernet or must it be on MoCa?

IPv6 finally kicked in!

Hey guys , after such a long time, I finally was able to pull IPv6 blocks using DHCPv6. This happened after I moved and they used a different modem because they didn't have the same one anymore and a swap is needed due to 911. My modem is a modem/router combo unit in bridge mode.. but not pay for it because I wanted a modem. I now have a TG862G, I used to have a TG822G. I'm not even that far from my old apartment unit, so I thought it would be on the same node. Does the old modem not pass IPv6? Anyways, here is the settings I used for pfsense if anyone wants to know: WAN:: -IPv6 Configuration Type : DHCPv6 -DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation size : 56 LAN:: -IPv6 Configuration Type : Track Interface -IPv6 Interface : WAN That's all that was needed, now I am IPv6 enabled!

Both my TiVo Minis have 2 Netflix apps since the last connection to TiVo. The top app works fine, the lower one gives a V301 error. I tried a factory reset but that didn't fix the problem. Anyone else having this issue?

[INTERNET] Someone is using my email address

It seems someone is using my email address to spoof emails. I keep getting notices of delivery failure. They are coming from all over, many from Europe. It is clear from the messages that they have used my email as the send/reply address. I have received over 30 in the past 2 3/4hrs. And they keep coming. I sent an email to cogeco security, but just received a computer generated email describing all the things they won't do :( I have also posted in Cogeco Direct. Any suggestions on how to stop these emails or even deactivate my email for a while? I am using IMAP, so the messages will start to fill up the Cogeco servers.
