I was watching a prerecorded program from earlier tonight. My DVR was sitting at 72% full and I sat down to polish off a few of the programs.
At one point, I hit the "back 30 seconds" function on my Harmony remote. The green light came up solid (the light that registers that a remote command has been received) but the program continued to play. I hit the back button twice more...
After 20-30 seconds, the DVR rebooted. After it came back on, I didn't try to go to the list. Instead, I pulled the plug on the unit and left it unplugged for about 10 seconds. After restoring power, I waited for the reboot to finish, and then I hit the "List" function to continue watching my program.
The list was empty, with the display showing 0%. I had several entire seasons of current shows recorded, waiting for a time when I could binge watch the season. Now it's all gone.
I had not had a problem with my Pace RNG200N in several years. Since the new iGuide, I've had at least four reboots (while I was actually watching recordings). But losing my entire list of prerecorded stuff is cruel.
Then, I realized that the DVR function wasn't showing in the on-screen menu! Many years ago, with the original Motorola PVR's, there was a special "code" that needed to be entered to turn on DVR functionality. When I called Cogeco support and told them about this, they indicated there was a good chance the functionality (and my recordings) would reappear after they did a "soft reset".
I'm glad to say the soft reset worked, and my programs are back. But that was too close for comfort. According to the support person, this type of issue is being reported by a lot of Cogeco customers. I hope the new iGuide problems will be corrected with a software update sometime soon.

A new introduction
Hi there everyone!
After 2 and a half years of having the pleasure of interacting with everyone here on the boards, the time has come for me to take a back seat in the participation here. My role at Cogeco is evolving, and while I am looking forward to the opportunities that are presenting themselves, it is bittersweet, as this forum has been apart of my day to day routine for so long now. I've had the opportunity to get to know many of you and help you with questions as they arose.
With that being said, we will still have representation here on DSL Reports. I would like to introduce you all to Rob (Cogeco_Rob) who will be taking on the primary role of answering questions, posting updates, and helping with any concerns. He will also be taking over the direct forum board. Rob is extremely capable (and if you were to ask him, he would probably tell you that more capable than I am :D) I'm sure you will be in good hands with him.
I'll be helping with Rob's transition onto the forums here and will continue to post from time to time. Thanks everyone for a fantastic few years!
All the best,
Peter

Will cogeco drop download caps
With most 3rd party providers removing caps on the downloads does this mean that we can expect the same from Cogeco. I have already left cogeco but knowing that cogeco is interested in being competitive might sway me back in the future.

Moving out of Service area but want to keep Cogeco e-mail address
Hello, my parents have been with cogeco for nearly 20 years and soon moving to a new place and won't be in their service area any longer. Is there any sort of cost effective way for them to keep their @cogeco e-mail?

[TV] 4K TV coming?
Was looking at TV packages from Cogeco and noticed that 4K is coming soon
https://www.cogeco.ca/en/check-availability?cb=/en/tv/pvr-tivo-4k
Although address doesn't qualify so I can't check. What's the hardware gonna be like?
Also this means that Telus, Videotron, Cogeco, Rogers and Bell all have 4K TV service, leaving only Shaw without it.
Nice to see more companies jumping into 4K tbh.

Hello,
Anyone with Cogeco and IPV6. How did you get the block of IP's ? I've called a few times and talked to tech agents but they didn't have any idea.
Are they emailed to you or can you call and ask for them.

Amazon Prime in Canada and TIVO
Apparently Amazon prime instant video will be launching in Canada soon. If and when this happens will COGECO enable the Amazon Prime instant video app on the TIVO boxes like all TIVO units have in the US?

No one appears to be talking about these offers ? Why Not as they look great to me and I have been a COGECO hater for more than a decade.
Something has changed @ COGECO as these packages are actually very good at a fantastic price. . .
What am I missing here as I'm looking at moving to COGECO. . . Please STOP me if I'm wrong!
Good Grief I'm moving to COGECO is something I never thought would come out of my mouth. . . Still sounds strange and I keep looking behind me trying to figure out what's the catch. . . Yes I know its a 6 month contract But I was offered 12 months. . .

[TV] Problems since upgrade to new guide
I can't tell whether this is a coincidence, but I've noticed a number of unfortunate changes since the new guide was downloaded.
1) As mentioned by others, I am experiencing intermittent issues where there is significant lag after sending a signal from my remote. The box won't respond to another command for a very long time (20 seconds or more).
2) Several of the recently recorded programs seem to have pauses/audio dropout issues. I haven't checked to see if they are all on the same channel (or adjacent channels). I've noticed the problem on Showcase HD, CBS HD (West Coast) and possibly other channels. I'll try to document the channels where it's occurring.
3) The Guide doesn't appear to show as many days' worth of available air times. Shows that previously displayed multiple pages of available play times now show only a single screen. Again, I don't have a specific example, so it may be a fluke.
4) As reported by someone else, I do also see "To Be Announced" on some screens, even when the Guide shows the proper program name.

[TV] Most Hated Feature of my Cogeco TV Service - Is there a workaround?
It is the "Favorites" settings that I use to bypass the channels we don't subscribe to. It is simple on the surface but very tedious to use and I seem to lose the settings from time to time for no obvious reasons.
Many years ago when I had Rogers you could push the +/- key on the cable remote to add/remove channels from the surfing sequence.
Has any one found a hack for this?
