[TV] Tvo Mini Remote Issue

$

Hopefully someone has a fix for this. On one of my minis, the tivo remote is unable to communicate until I reboot the mini by removing power and plugging it back in. Nothing wrong with batteries or the remote as Ive tried it out on a different mini which doesnt have this problem. After I recycle the power, it works again for about 10 minutes, then becomes unresponsive again. Ive re-paired the remote(s) to the mini, works for 10 minutes, then unresponsive.

[INTERNET] Horrible speeds for over a week now

I had a tech come out and issue is not resolved. Considering going to another ISP but hesitant as the Cogeco service was good until just recently. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/13641688 I can't do anything with these speeds. :( Cogeco put in a different modem but the problem persists. I have attached an image to show that it is not stable (most times when the upload is bad I cannot get a finished speed test result).

COGECO HD compared to Bell Satellite

$

I am really unhappy with the quality of the picture on my Bell Satellite HD channels. Would switching to COGECO bring a noticeable improvement? I've found some older threads on various sites where COGECO was regarded as having the worst HD of any of the major providers. Is that still the case? They seemed to have made significant strides in their internet speed capacity. Does that flow through to less HD compression on the TV side as well?

[TV] Transferring recording schedule to new PVR

If I need to replace my current Pace PVR, are there any utilities Cogeco can provide that would allow me to transfer the recording schedule to a new box (either Pace or TiVo)? I know it's too much to expect the content on the box to be transferred, but I'd really like to avoid having to re-enter the schedule - specially since some programs are on hiatus and would therefore be impossible to find using a "search".

I am on the grandfathered digital value pack. I just got a letter from Cogeco saying that I'm losing BNN (Business News Network) but they are adding AMC , Sportsnet 1 and Bloomberg News in lieu of BNN, with no price hike. Interestingly enough they say I can add BNN back as a stand alone channel.

I just got off the phone with Cogeco inquiring about the new 1Gbps and 360Mbps packages expanding to Windsor (It is just in Burlington and Oakville for now) and the agent told me it will come to Windsor in a couple of months.. should I take this with a grain of salt, or is it really coming so soon? Other questions about this service.. What transport type will this be using? GPON, DOCSIS3.1 or something else? Can you get a "loyalty" discount on these plans? (A contract.. for lower rates) What modem is used with these plans?

[INTERNET] So why is cogeco allowed to flat out lie?

Swapping my service to start called in to setup the disconnect date, after being put through to the retention section the fun started. it was pretty basic at first, " well what if I offer you a deal? " Me: no thanks I don't want a 6 month contract that jumps drastically after that " oh no our contracts are for 1 year! " me: um so I don't want a 6 month contract so you offer me to be tied to you for 1 year instead..." Start throttles the speed you know" ---flat out lie when I called him out on it he started spouting about how cogeco wasn't available in his area so he went with start but is swapping to rogers cause start throttles....... 20 minutes of kyle arguing with me and lie upon lie. So please explain to me how is it legal for a company to lie to try to keep you from going to a cheaper alternative?

Anyone else having pixelation issues on Sportsnet during Bluejay games. Been happening for a couple of weeks. Don't notice it during other programs on SN. Had this issue a couple of years ago on TSN and turned out to be Cogeco equipment in their network somewhere.

I'm on a IISP/TPIA (Kelcom) on the east end and seem to be having issues with udp traffic or anything realtime in particular. I'm seeing a lot of re-routes if my path goes northeast rather than through michigan. Anyone seeing the same? https://portal.kelcom.net/support/ is reporting issues.

Despite the fact that our contractors doing our FTTH deployment call Ontario One Call for locates, Cogeco doesn't locate drops to customer houses. Our contractor ends up hitting them, and then they leave this when their customer calls for a repair...

[INTERNET] Cogeco no help when Airprint doesn't work with Arris router.

After much digging, and no help from Cogeco (surprising since the fix is easy), I've solved my Airprint frustration. I would see the Airprint printer in the first few minutes of rebooting the printer, or toggling the wireless (even toggling either Bonjour, or IPP), but then it always goes away. The problem is the printer is connected via wifi, and Arris does not handle Multicast properly for the Bonjour protocol (this is the protocol for Airprint) to work continuously. It's not the firewall as far as I can troubleshoot, as I tried turning it off to no avail. The solution, connect the printer via Ethernet, problem solved. If your printer does not have Ethernet, then you're out of luck, unless you either add another access point for the printer that does properly support Multicast, or connect the printer to a computer, and of course the computer needs to run the Bonjour service (over Ethernet as well). My printer did not have Ethernet (HP OJ 6600) so I bought a new one on sale at Bestbuy (HP OJ 6968) and it worked out of the box, Airprint problem solved. Getting another access point may have been cheaper but more configuration required. I easily found a home for the 6600. A simple but tedious work-around: Create a bookmark in Safari to the printers' networking page/IPP, and toggle the service (at least on the 6600). It must affect the Bonjour/Multicast code, and causes it to re-initiate which makes the Airprint available for the next few minutes for you to print. Good luck! Also, no thanks to Cogeco.

Is Cogeco Cable Internet still oversold/oversaturated in Milton?

I had to ditch my Cable internet a few years back because at peak times (after dinner and weekends) I'd be getting about 3Mbps of the 60 I was paying for. Is it still really bad? The fastest DSL I can get is only 25Mbps but at least it's always that speed.. If it's not terrible anymore I'd love to switch back for that 120Mbps speed, but if it's still only really 120Mbps at 3am I'll wait.
