VoIP over DPC3848vm. Is SIP ALG a problem?

$

Anyone running a voip phone over Cogeco’s DpC3848vm modem? (Not cogeco’s VoIP, an independent provider such as VoIP.ms, callcentric etc) Are there any issues with SIP ALG any more? I can’t see how to turn that off except to use bridge mode, which I can do, but just wondering if it’s necessary any more. Thanks!

Is there any way of getting a Non-TiVo PVR with Cogeco TV service?

Are there any issues associated with turning these modems off at night? We had a tech say the only problem was there would be no phone service.

[INTERNET] Docsis 3.1 1gbps ISP modem - not leasing internet IP

I have this Docsis 3.1 modem but it only seems to work with my current Asus GT-5300 router by way of giving it an IP for internet access. If I try to change this router to say (Orbi), it won't lease the Orbil an IP for internet access. The modem is in bridge mode but that's the way that I want to run it as it currently runs this way with the Asus router. Also, if I take it out of bridge mode and just try using the Docsis 3.1 modem as the router for DHCP (no WiFi), I still don't get internet access on my wired devices or access points. Does this modem maintain an association to only 1 router that needs to be changed (i.e. Mac Address of current router). I have TiVo and this modem in bridge mode. I have reset the Docsis to factory defaults but still only the Asus router will get an internet ip leased to it from the Docis.

I got a Tivo message saying we are getting a new Tivo Experience starting next week. I'm assuming this is the HYDRA interface. Anyone have any more details or know if we will get any new apps?

I recently switched my TiVo for a regular PVR. I did this because I didn't want the wifi running all the time. Is it possible to have a tivo and use the wifi from your own router, not the Cogeco router?

[TV] remote recording

This might be a dumb question, but I am wondering about remote recording. Is this only available with a Tivo. I have noticed that when "Cogeco remote recorder" is googled, links to the Cogeco support pages come up, but there is no information on them about remote recording. I found one page that mentioned to go the account page if there were problems with he remote recorder, but that was all.

Just had 360/30 internet put in

Hi - just upgraded from 250/20 to 360/30 in the Oakville area (Falgarwood). Required new modem install. Tech was here for no more than 15 mins once I told him to just bridge the modem - and I will use my own router and wireless. Tested and the speed is actually 372/29. The upload almost never goes above 28 to 29. It'd be great to get higher upload speeds as all the backups and pics and video and working from home all depends on upload speeds into the cloud (not just down). Hopefully they eventually uncap it - sounds like the issue now is bandwidth. TV channels use a lot of bandwidth. Once they go IPTV - every customer would likely need a new TV cable box and only then could they kill the legacy TV service. At this rate - IPTV hasn't even been rolled out yet - implementation could take a looooong time. I like Cogeco - but at this rate I'm hoping that Bell shows up with new fibre lines in the neighbourhood. That might happen before Cogeco gets this whole 1 gig thing working upstream....

Backing up TiVo DVR programs to the cloud or external hard drive?

Hello, I just canceled Cogeco and before I turn the Tivo back in, is there anyway to save the programs/movies I have in my DVR, to the cloud or external hard drive? Preferably the cloud. If possible, is there a cloud service better than others to access throughout the house? Thank you.

TG3452A and huge latency issue

So I have had this modem for all of two days. Last night is the first time my kids and I really had a chance to try it out and the latency issues with this thing are very problematic. I was reading about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CruciblePlaybook/comments/9qtiad/serious_crucible_laglatency_issue_all_modems_with/ Does Cogeco offer any alternatives? More importantly, did my old Aris router for 120/10 and Tivo (I don't know what the model of that one was) have the same Puma 6 chipset? Because I didn't have these issues before. I may have to drop back down in speed. Is there a way to somehow mitigate and correct this? Tim

Or have they given up now that they can provide gigabit (albeit, not symmetrical) with DOCSIS 3.1

I have issues opening ports on this router. This always worked in the past but since last power outage my DVR that is plugged into one of the ports of this modem/router is not working since it is not visible on internet. I took DVR to neighbour house who is not using Arris but rather his own Linksys router once we open the ports on his Linksys my DVR works fine. Anyone encountered this issue? Arris IP at my house is 192.168.0.1 My DVR is 192.168.0.200 All my other devices (iPads, iPhones , laptops, computers and TVs are working fine. This DVR needs 8000,8001 and 8002 ports opened. I tried to open each port individually. For example see attached for only port 8000. I also tried to do same but instead of 8000 I put 8000-8002 and that didn’t work. I tested these ports also on you get signal.com and it responded with “error: I could not see your service on yourIP on port 8000. All these tests work in neighbour house. What am I missing?

B Fibe

Bell Fibe is cold calling my neighborhood with some very good offers. They are offering me 1Gbps down/750mbps up, and a very good tv channel package for less than I currently pay for 40mbps/pick 20 from Cogeco. This is very tempting. Anyone have thoughts on this?

TV/internet install prep

I have an install date of April 11 for internet and TV service. Currently I'm using Cogeco internet through a reseller, Ebox. Should I notify Ebox before the install that I will be cancelling internet with them? When I ordered the services by phone, I asked whether I should cancel with Ebox for the install date, and the Cogeco rep said I shouldn't do that, in case the install got rescheduled for some reason. But is it going to be a problem for Cogeco to "take over" the line that is currently being "controlled" by Ebox? Thanks -- Pauline

I got a telephone number and service from Cogeco. I told them it was very important to have my number unlisted. I found out it was listed on 411.ca because my ex got hold of it on there and has been harassing me. He also has my address. I moved 4 hours away from him and now I have to move. Can I sue cogeco for this mistake and ruining my life.

Bridging Docsis 3.1 & TIVO

$

Hi all, Currently using a Cisco Ac modem in bridge on a 120/10 plan. Although the router is in bridge - MOCA is still functional allowing my TIVO boxes to function as expected. Considering upgrading to 1Gig plan with the Arris docsis 3.1 hardware. My goal is to also place this in bridge as I have a pretty robust network of cat6 wired APs throughout my home and would prefer to handle routing myself. Has anyone had any luck bridging this device and still getting TIVO via MOCA to work without any issues? Thanks!
